Massachusetts regulations:

In accordance with Massachusetts regulation, Title 5, composting toilet systems must be designed to store compostable and composted solids for at least two years either inside the composting chamber (large container type composters), or in a separate compost container (smaller composting toilets), unless a system has been approved by the Department as an alternative system with different standards. Currently, only the BioLet XL has applied for and received a Provisional Use Approval from the Department to be used without this storage requirement.
